FSG programming has now concluded for the school year. We want to thank everyone who participated in the Education, Investment Research, and Principal Investment divisions–they were a great success! We will be working hard over the summer to bolster the opportunities that FSG offers, so look forward to new classes and more in-depth activities next year.
We will also be sending out invitations over the summer to those who qualified to join the Investment Research and/or Principal Investments groups.
If you have any questions or comments, then feel free to e-mail the directors (contact information in the About page).

- Principles of Finance: This is FSG’s introductory finance class, which for the first time will be led by members of the Kellogg Finance Club. Placement into other areas of FSG usually requires successful completion of the class. Please find here the: Syllabus **Note: The course begins the first Sunday after classes start.
- Introduction to Options: An advanced level seminar, the Introduction to Options class will be primarily discussion based for the first half of the course, which focuses on traditional options theory, and will cover practical applications during the second half. Previous knowledge of finance is required. Check back for more information and the syllabus.
What You Can Do February 4, 2007

There are a multitude of resources that you can utilize to learn more about finance.
- The Internet. The Internet is your best friend in terms of keeping up-to-date with daily financial news. Take a look at the links listed to the right, and try to visit one of them at least once a day. Knowing what is happening in the industry is especially helpful in interviews.
- Print Publications. Try to read the Wall Street Journal every day either online or in print. If you do not want to purchase a subscription, then you can find current and past issues at the library. Beginners are encouraged to spend at least 45-60 minutes reading through it and those with more experience can browse through it as they see fit. However long you spend with The Journal, pay extra attention to the Money & Investing section. Other useful publications are: The New York Times, BusinessWeek, Barron’s, Bloomberg Markets, Fortune, Institutional Investor, and The Economist.
- Professors. If you have a question about finance or economics, ask a professor from one of your classes or find another professor at Kellogg or in the economics department and e-mail them.
- Alumni. Use the alumni database (http://www.nualumni.com) to find alumni that are in the financial services industry. E-mail them and ask if they would be available to speak with you about their job (and anything else you want to know). Some of them may even be willing to go out to lunch, so take them up on any offer that comes up.
